The mission of the American Nurses Foundation is to transform the nation’s health through the power of nursing. Founded in 1955 as the research, education, and charitable affiliate of the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Foundation complements the work of ANA, the largest professional nursing organization in America, by raising funds and developing and managing grants and programs that support advances in research, education, and clinical practice. Foundation programs benefit the nation’s 3.1 million registered nurses and those they serve, wherever nurses practice.
One out of every 100 people in America is a registered nurse. With 3.1 million nurses throughout the country, these women and men have the broadest reach and are often the first health care providers, making them uniquely positioned to make a difference in health care.
